Just watched Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil and I honestly didn’t know what to expect going in. well tbh i already saw an interview that zach wanted the audience to feel like theyre playing the game so half and half i was very excited. I’ve seen enough Resident Evil movies to be a little cautious already 😂 so I was really hoping this wouldn’t just be another “let’s put zombies and big monsters on screen and call it Resident Evil” kind of movie. Thankfully, its not What I liked most is that this actually felt scary. Not just loud. Not just bloody. There’s a lot of tension and that feeling that something bad is about to happen, and you’re just waiting for it. There were a few moments when I caught myself thinking, “Okay… don’t fkng open that door.” 😂 And then of course… they open the freaking door. ang tanga lang bwiset Hahaahahahaahahahah You can definitely feel Zach Cregger’s style in it. There’s something very Barbarian very weapon-ish about the way he builds tension and makes you uncomfortable without always showing you what you’re supposed to be afraid of. I also liked that the movie didn’t feel like it was trying too hard to please the fans. It has enough Resident Evil DNA for you to recognize the world, but it still feels like Cregger is telling his own story. That worked for me. My only complaint is I wanted more. More of the world, more of the characters, more of the creatures. Some things felt like they were just starting to get interesting and then the movie moved on. But overall, I had a really good time with this. It reminded me why I love horror in the first place you don’t necessarily need to see everything. Sometimes it’s the anticipation that gets you. And after all the Resident Evil adaptations we’ve had it’s nice to finally watch one and feel like the people making it actually understood what makes the games so fun and creepy. Not perfect. But definitely one of the better Resident Evil movies for me. 8.5/10 #ResidentEvil
