is the AI in the room with us...honestly getting so tired of all the AI alarmist bs. they look diffrent cause they are leaning towards a more anime/cartoon style. some of the anime style of other cards come to mind. being honest tho i dont give a damn if it was made with AI or not as long as it looks good.

I think it's a combination of two factors. 1. the artists are trying to combine their own style with that of Avatar so it looks like the show but also still looks like their own art style. That's why some of them seem a bit like wonky because, the Avatar art style isn't the style they usually draw in. 2. The generative AI bots had to train off of something. so those style that you used to seeing from AI art, real artists have those styles and that's why these art styles are now conflated with AI art, but they're real styles that people use.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I also don’t think any AI was used in any of this stuff, but it does show. I think some pretty good evidence that a lot of the magic artists don’t know how or what to do with this sort of more cartoon style when there’s such a wild inconsistency in the faces that guitar, especially is like my go to example as well as like I think it’s like spirit, water revival or whatever of how like they just do not know how to draw their faces sometimes and it looks very, very offputting compared to some of the artwork of these characters that looks really really good it really shows the lack of design consistency and maybe that has to do with like how the art team is handled and like what kind of like concept work they’re given when doing this or if they’re just told to go look at the show and do their best I’m not sure

there's another toph card that exists that is very visible that the artist very likely used AI cause the knuckles on her hand and her body feels like they used AI to help make the body and they just drew around it

its just difficult to make an animated series with previously established and beloved looks into artistically unique cards that try to capture the semi realism of most magic cards and still present similarly to the cartoon.

Bro i'ma be honest. This while AI paranoia in the Magic community is insane. AI is trained on popular artstyles, and tbh a looooot of Anime Art, and cause it's getting better, people are paranoid. non of these are AI, you can find art just like what you're looking at all over the anime community for the past 2 decades+. Different artists have different strongsuits, not all art is created equally.

Since Final Fantasy there’s been at least two AI accusations per set. Not only against card illustrators, but in Edge of Eternities Ultra Pro was accused of using AI to lengthen art to fit a deck box
