Water and decaying matter is what causes all mushrooms to grow, you can’t prevent just one, but you can reduce all types by watering less and/or clearing out dead plant debris. Avoidance is usually your best bet.

I don't know where you live but in my area in Oregon you can't legally can't do anything without a permit. It's not really enforced but it's the law.

Super scary! Best to remove them as juveniles so they don’t drop spores. Wear gloves, bag them up, and throw them in the trash. Increase sunlight if possible by trimming trees and bushes, get rid of any dead wood or stumps that may be feeding them, reduce water by fixing any broken irrigation and do what you need to increase soil drainage (aeration, thinning lawn, etc). Google says to send them to the dump, don’t compost them ever! It also says that adding nitrogen rich fertilizer to the lawn will increase the decomp of whatever organic stuff is feeding them and starve them eventually.
