I agree! I was never recommended to see a dietitian and had to figure it out for myself. I am the only one in my family that has been diagnosed and it is still a struggle because not everyone really understands it. I think this is mainly due to so much lack of awareness and misunderstanding intolerance versus celiac disease

I was told to see a dietician. But my healthcare doesn't cover dieticians because that's a "choice." Not like this is a medically necessary diet or anything

i am so sorry yalls diagnosis was like this. i was recommended to a dietitian immediately and informed about cross contamination and they even told me to change my toasters, air fryers and cutting boards.

Was told I had celiac. I asked what that meant and she said I was allergic to gluten… I had no idea that gluten was flour and wheat… had to Google it myself and learn on Google… it was awful!

when I got tested for celiac my dr said "congrats you dont have celiac, you just cant eat gluten for some reason" and when I asked him why it came on randomly he literally said "idk. these things just happen" 🥲 and gave me no other advice

I was 12 told just don’t eat gluten not knowing what that was nor did my mom so we didn’t think it was a big deal and I didn’t have many symptoms from gluten so I didn’t go gluten free until 19 which was only like 5 months ago and now ik how important it is

see they made me see a dietitian but she wasn’t well informed on celiac so she gave me a ten page packet of popular things i had to avoid needless to say three years in and still making a lot of mistakes 😭

Same! tried two different GI Dr's and they all refused to talk to me about it. It's an autoimmune disorder but no dr will talk about it. Someone make that make sense.

With my diagnosis my doctor set up an appointment for me with the clinics dietitian. She also printed out peer reviewed articles on celiac disease for me so I could read more on it. Sadly, she retired a few years ago.

I had to ask for bloods to be done, had them done 4 years previously. your on your own in the public health system in Ireland. was told to join the Coeliac Society.
