@thechrishinton: Love is not a transaction. Relationships are. This video breaks the difference between the human being and the human doing. If this made you feel something it is probably meant for you. Watch the pinned video for deeper context. #relationships #healing #grief #selfawareness #emotionalintelligence
My perspective is that love still exists after a relationship ends if a person chooses for it to. I’ve always said I thought it was weird how mean and hateful people get on purpose after a relationship ends. If you loved someone at one point, why would your goal be to absolutely destroy them/their life just because your shared relationship ended. I will always hold some level of love for any person I have chosen to love. I will always have a level of care for their well being too. I also believe love still exists because sometimes, it is love that we use to end a relationship and walk away.

This is too deep a concept for a lot of people to grasp because it’s against their mental programming. They hear you but can’t comprehend.

Love is "consideration" without expecting anything in return. 🤔 right?

Sounds like we women need to practice detachment, learn about our boundaries and what we want out in transaction. 😳

Love doesn’t die. Relationships end but love doesn’t die. My mom and I don’t speak due to the inability of her to understand my boundaries though my love for her will never die. My marriage ended, but my love for the man will never die. I needed to hear this I needed the reminder relationships are transactional, but love never dies.

Agree 100% the only exception is mother to child. That’s the only place where the exchange is unconditional.

It has been my experience that many people don’t understand how you can love someone but refuse to maintain the transactional relationship. I am divorced and I still care whether or not my ex is happy. I still give him try to be generous with him and i still talk to him and wish him well. I still encourage my daughter to have a relationship with him within the bounds she feels comfortable with. Our transactions within the relationship were unacceptable to me. I ended the relationship, not the love I feel for him. I think it would be very difficult for me not to love the person who gave me such a wonderful daughter. So now I have complete control of my part of the transaction and the peace knowing I want nothing in return. I never want my daughter to think that love requires her to maintain a one sided relationship/transaction that she doesn’t choose. I had to learn the hard way how self destructive a one sided relationship is for both parties. I am sad that I don’t think my ex will ever learn this (though I sincerely hope he does). I am sad that he will never be truly happy because he thinks it is someone else’s job to make him happy. It was not my job to teach him how to be happy, how to share or how to be a better person. You cannot teach someone who is not willing to learn. You cannot only set the limits for the transaction in which you are willing to operate.
