there's no monoculture anymore. everyone's attention is too divided for any particular actor's line to be memorable in the public consciousness

timothee chalemet has the dune franchise, but even earlier than that he had call me by your name, little women, or even the king. Just depends on what sub culture you are in. culture has adapted and changed since Leo's era. there is far more choice and far more diversity within interest.

We no longer have theatre kid actors. If that makes sense, every actor feels like they are their for a paycheck

I think SINNERS is rewatchable and quotable and memorable

Chalamet had two great performances in Call Me By Your Name and Beautiful Boy (coincidentally the only two roles he had ever been good in)

Maybe it’s the marvel effect? Less iconic or risqué cinema?

I understand what you're trying to say, but I think Chalamet and I still get chills from his speech to Fremen in Dune 2.

Dune surely counts as stand out for Chalamet? At least once the trilogy comes out although I do agree on the whole

It takes time I think. Do we really think people were quoting the titanic when it came out. It can’t release as a classic

A quotable line isn’t what makes a movie memorable? If anything those were a cheesy biproduct of the time where now writing for good movies or tv tries to simulate realistic dialogue more so than this

Azura210 :
well obviously it’s because the “movie star” has been disappearing in favor of the “IP”. studios before the 2010s would bank on a famous actor like Robert DeNiro to portray a character that would become iconic, like Tony Montana. now studios bank on the IP, like Star Wars.

Acting is no longer for the audience, it is for the actors themselves and their main character syndromes.

Chalamet as Paul Atreides is easily up there with any of the other examples. But generally you’re right. I think it’s because the social media era has caused movie stars to lose a lot of their mystique
