usually around this time of year you see the big box stores and everywhere hiring like crazy and seeing those seasonal help wanted signs everywhere… they’re not here this year

Getting interviews, a couple 2nd and even 3rd round but not moving forward. Also have had a few emails saying they’ve put hiring holds on positions I have applied and interviewed for. Discouraged but moving forward.

I have completely shifted my job search to focus on networking, which has gotten me so many more interviews. Everyone has liked me, but they’re all holding on hires til Q1. Hoping I can pull it out in January!

Over the past several years there’s been a common narrative that early-career professionals often advance faster by changing roles every couple of years. Given how challenging the current job market is, do you think that still holds true? What approach would you recommend for someone early in their career who wants to keep growing: job-hopping, staying longer and ‘job-hugging,’ or something else? (Love your sweater btw)

I’ll look at this job market like a baseball analogy for most people if you had a degree in experience, you would be looked at as a candidate so you’re now being rated as AA player and the other folks looking for a job are Mike Trout so it pushes your can further down

Do you help people narrow in on types of roles? With the changing job market I worry about looking at a job that will be eliminated by AI. I totally understand you’re not a fortune teller, but as some who’s been laid off 2 times since Covid it’s my biggest concern.
