@yoen11: 📜 Historical Connection: The Tributary State The political and cultural connections were extremely strong, though separate from genetics: #okinawa #History #travel #australia #indonesia • Tributary Kingdom: For over 500 years (starting in the 14th century), the Ryukyu Kingdom was an independent tributary state under China's Ming and Qing dynasties.  • Cultural Influence: This relationship resulted in a massive influx of Chinese culture, influencing the political system, court fashion, calendar, astronomy, and Confucian culture in the Ryukyu Kingdom.  • The Kume Community: A community of Chinese immigrants, mainly scholars and officials, settled in the capital of Shuri (known as Kume Muru). These individuals intermarried with the local elite, meaning the royal court and the aristocracy certainly incorporated Chinese lineage, but this was a cultural and political elite migration, not a direct imperial line. So, while the Ryukyu people have a clear genetic and profound cultural connection to China, the specific link to "imperial DNA" is highly unlikely to be demonstrable or significant outside of some historical court and aristocratic families.
