@myteacherface: Teacher observations. Punative or productive? Necessary or nonsense? A needed practice or an unneeded punch list? #Myteacherface #funnyteacher #teachers #teachersoftiktok #tiktokteacher
I love how Danielson is literally like “I didn’t create this as an evaluation tool” and all the districts immediately went “let’s use it to evaluate teachers!”

What was the "why" in this TikTok? That would help me understand better.

I didn't catch on that this was satire until the part where she said that students look for the objective all the time, lol

On my state, admin is only required to teach for 3 years before becoming assistant principals. I was still trying to find the restroom 3 years in, let alone knowing anything about classroom ma!

Our district implemented a new, unique to us system when the state took us over in 23-24. It’s trash, and the unions are constantly fighting it in court. That’s before we even get to the toxic, gotcha culture of fear they’ve created by firing teachers who exceed their days, and even if a teacher has days saved, we are NOT allowed to take more than 15 days per year. They are literally firing people immediately when they exceed the limit. My school has already lost 5 (6?) teachers this year between firings and people quitting over the treatment we are receiving.

And then they run the observation into AI and have AI provide the feedback. (And yes, our admin does this… and it called me out about not having the objective listed. 🙃)

I teach choir on a stage without a white board. I never post objectives, because I can't. A principal asked one time "how do you expect kids to know what to do each day" I tell them 🤷♂️. Also, they were on task and the rest of the observation was near perfect. But have to have that visible...

Wow, this is spot on! 😂 I remember when I first started teaching in the mid 90s the only thing the principals really looked at was the student’s final exam grades and if they were close to the students averages of the 4 quarters. Mine were always fairly close, but once in a while, you had a few students who struggled with final exams. Did anyone else experience this type of thing in mid 90s? I didn’t think it was so bad back then. Things definitely got worse when principals became more involved because they acted like they knew everything from one observation. I taught Spanish so most of the time the principals didn’t even understand what was going on because they didn’t speak Spanish. 😂
