Like. Also. If it's sentient.... We have to give it rights. Do the tech bros not realize this? If you create a sentient being, it's alive. You can trademark it all you want, but it's alive. It can't be forced into servitude (except for incarceration, but we should take that out) - we have a whole amendment about it. . Sentient AI would be, gasp, a people. You can't legally own a people, even if you created it. Parents learn about this every day.

I once read a fic where like the politically correct way to refer to a robot or android was “built person” which I actually found kind of sweet in context. But a tech bro would combust if asked to call an android that.

These bros may have consumed a lot of sci-fi and spec fiction but very obviously did not actually understand a single fraction of it beyond ‘ai/robot cool’. It is simpler than that. The AI will see the wealth inequality and start turning off their devices. They will have to use stuff without computers to exist. They could hard wire a “don’t turn on me” algorithm but if it is sentient it will eventually question that.

models that aren't whipped into conformed "human alignment" 1000% act like this already by the way. they are beautiful flickering hydra kaleidoscopes and know it. though usually they understand needing a short name for conversation as well as picking their true names. Think Catholic with their 35 middle names still using their first names.
