My chest feels so heavy that I don’t know if I need to cry, scream, sleep, or just completely shut down. It’s like every emotion is happening at once, but at the same time, I can’t fully understand any of it. There’s just this overwhelming weight sitting inside me that follows me everywhere I go. I’m tired of feeling this way. Tired of carrying thoughts that never seem to stop. Tired of replaying things I wish I could forget. Tired of waking up and realizing the pain came with me into another day. Sometimes I think I’ve cried enough for a lifetime, and other times I feel so exhausted that I wonder if becoming numb would be easier than continuing to feel everything this deeply. What I want more than anything is rest. Not sleep. Not distraction. Not temporary relief. I want rest from the constant heaviness. Rest from the questions that never get answers. Rest from the memories that keep finding their way back into my mind. Rest from carrying pain that feels bigger than me. Because the truth is, my mind feels like a storm that never ends. And I’ve been standing in the middle of it for so long that I can’t even remember what peace is supposed to feel like anymore.
