@makingmoneywithmar: Need some help on this old school Yamaha generator. Any help would be appreciated. I don’t think it’s carb related? I really want to bring this thing back to life and start generating more than just nostalgia. #generator #willitrun #smallenginefix #smallengine #mechanic
Can’t just put any bolt on the bowl. It’s most likely blocking your fuel into the jet.

Could be the oil level senior. Every Yamaha generator I’ve owned has been picky with oil if they go down on oil even a little they will run bad or not start at all

your bolt holding on the carb sump should be a banjo type bolt. you can bypass this by drilling a tiny hole below the emulsion tube and above where the bolt threads in to. its letting a little fuel seep in and then when you pull it to start its just burning the little bit and starving itself

Some bowl bolts have a hole in them that lets the gas through some carburetors do not work that way, so that one may not work for you

Check that bolt on the bottom of the bowl. I believe it’s supposed to have 2 holes that feed fuel to the main jet. The one you have doesn’t.

Check the fuel hoses and blow them out. A lot of blockages cause a lack of fuel. Put on a filter for the future. Be sure to use gas that has no ethanol. Change the oil. It matters. The jets could still be clogged.
