Speaking of al andalus I always find it so interesting that it was only the Christian elites who were against it, I mean everyone else in Spain at the time loved it, Muslims Jews working class Christians and even the none religious or minority religions. I think people have a romantic idea of history,they think that crusader knights were courageous chivalrous heroes when in reality they are the opposite. Many knights were mercenaries who worked for the highest bidder An example is Sir John Hawkwood serving multiple states earning wealth.One crusader knight who saw too much and was disillusioned by the order was Robert of St Alban's who converted to Islam.The relationship between Christianity and islam and Judaism in the middle east and north Africa is longer than other religions in Christian countries
