People have different religions. The mayor can be different religion. As mayor he has to show up and support the Christmas celebrations and the people of the city that are Christians. And vice versa, a Christian or Hindu or any kind of mayor can practice their own faith but still show up and support the faith of their constituents. A politician handles politics and laws, religion is not the concern as long as they do the job.
