To correct you, it wasn't destroyed by the Ethiopian-Eritrean War. It was damaged by the EPLF trying to take control of the city from the Derg, which was a civil war. Anyway, from what I can see, it isn’t really 'destroyed' as the word 'abandoned' describes it better.

It’s baffling how the 🇪🇷 leadership reportedly handed over Port Assab to 🇪🇬, despite their deep-rooted cultural, linguistic, and historical ties with neighboring 🇪🇹. Their hostility toward 🇪🇹 seems misplaced, especially given the lack of such shared bonds with 🇪🇬. It almost feels like a move driven more by rivalry than reason.
