@thosegoldenboys: Hoping this reaches the right crowd for recommendations. Shadow is almost 11 years old, there are some days where he can appear slow/stiff getting up and finds it tricky. He has regular check ups at the vet and he is a healthy well looked after boy 🥰. We have researched joint supplements to support his mobility but with the market being so varied I wanted to see if anyone had tried and tested any supplements that they felt genuinely improved their dogs mobility? 🫶🏻 #dogsupplement #doghealth #doghealthtips #seniordog #seniordogs
Stella lab hip and joint glucosamine chews from Amazon. You give a number of chews based on the dogs weight.

Shadow is beautiful ❤️My St Bernard has hip dysplasia and has monthly specialist vet physio. A hydro treadmill, massage and acupuncture and they also monitor and recommend diet, pain relief and supplements. Mine has turkey mince topper and cottage cheese to keep up protein, collagen and joint tablets. Currently using Pooch & Mutt tablets and collagen powder and natural collagen treats from poochandpawtreats. They also worked with my previous dog who had a back injury and stiffness in old age.

Our 13yr old doodle was like that- we got a pet physio to look at him, she recommended 10 mins per day SLOW walk on the lead, apparently the slow walk makes them use all 4 legs as big dogs tend to front load and put their weight through their front legs. Increase the walks by 5min per week. Put mats down on slippery floors to stop them slipping, no rough play , stairs or jumping - this helps calm inflammation. She’s been seeing him for a year now and he’s so much better. His back legs looked withered - now he looks more balanced. And his back legs move more freely - I’m sure he’s in less pain. He slso has Limbrella which gives him lots more energy and he’s been on greenlipped muscle/ Youmove got years. The pet physio also gives him laser treatment and he LOVES IT. He backs up to her to get it done. ❤️

Get yourself to a pain clinic! Joint supplements are great but often don't cut it further along in arthritis. The specialist vets at pain clinics can give a whole body approach - and recommend medication, physio, hydro, even acupuncture that may help 😊

I’ve been using @Honest Dog Co. green lipped muscle powder in my older dogs food for the last few months and I have noticed a massive change in her stiffness. She maybe wasn’t quite as bad as your pup is so I can’t say it would work but it’s done wonders for us x

@k8e024:If you cook meat, pour the meat juices over the food - recommended to my sister by her vet for her older Jack Russell. The meat juice contains collagen and minerals good for joints. Just don't use anything with high salt content or seasonings.

Tvati has been a game changer for my 15yo 26kg girl it is expensive but has been cheaper than vets treatments that causes other issues long term please only give gabapentin as an absolute last resort I have taken it myself and it has horrible side affects a dog can not communicate

Big no to Librela here so many side affects not told by the vet. Happened to see new vet at practice and she said to take dog off injections and give anti inflammatory or pain meds instead

Hey Shadow 🤗 So I use salmon oil everyday, three squirts with her breakfast. We have also started using cologne supplements. Jax is young but she is also stiff in the mornings sometimes. The green pack came from pets at home ( around £20 ) salmon oil from pets at home too. The purple pack is also cologne supplements. Recommend by ChatGPT, they are more expensive but who can put a price on our dogs comfort 😘 I hope this helps

my lab is also 11🥰 we tried the librela - in all honesty i regret it, studies have shown it can accelerate arthirtis and it has with our Winston. we stopped and pain manage daily with amantadine (100mg), onsior ti add in as and when he might need something extra. We do accupuncture (been amazing for him!!). Our vet also does bespoke herbal solutions too - sometimes supplements from online might not have the level of supplement your dog needs so dont see the full benefit. She makes them completely tailored to your dogs symptoms and weight so they have more effect🥰 see if you can find an alternativr therapy/herbal vet in your area! Feel you mama, sad to see our best friends get old ❤

Tails of Layla :
Oh Shadow you handsome baby! My Layla has had hip dysplasia since 2, we’ve tried lots of bits. Green lipped mussel powder we get ours from @HackneyDogHouse it’s great for anti inflammatory joints ligaments and tendons, you can mix it into his food. Also we use @YuMOVE joint plus care, if your worried about tablets they do senior daily bites which are flavoured for an easier way to get him to eat them ❣️not sure if it’s possible for you but hydrotherapy has been great for Layla, it helps build up the muscle that can weakend and gets them stronger in there stance and walk. (Battersea does offer discounted hydro too) As the water takes the pressure off there joints. A cheap one is turmeric powder mixed in his food as again it’s great for anti inflammatory. Also YouTube videos on dog massages for different types issues if shadow likes a good ol gentle rub down. Layla is on medication from the vets as well to help with the pain. Try and limit stairs/jumping up to sofa or bed ect if you can. They also have red light therapy for dogs check out Photzio website for that one. To be honest I could go on and on 😂 if you want to discuss or more tips please feel free to message me lovely. Wishing all the best for shadow it’s horrible to see you baby so uncomfy hope he can get some relief asap 🥰❣️🌟

We used yumove max for our 16year old collie as well as green lipped muscles for over a year. It helped and he loved the yumove chewable ate them like they were treats 😂 towards the end he was also on librella injection which helped for a couple of weeks at a time but wore off quite quick. Hope you find something to help ❤️

Librela injections and Gabapentin capsules. He might get a bit wobbly on Gabapentin in the beginning. It's also important to help with pain relief. Rimadyl has worked pretty good for us, and it's also soft on their stomach apart from Onsior.

Start off with yumove and zoomy. If painkillers are needed then pardale-v and onsior work well. You can get the prescription from the vet for them to buy cheaper online. Hydro helps too and laser. My boy done his cruciate ligament at 11 and we found out he had arthritis in his hip when they x-ray came back. We just lost him a month ago at 14 1/2 and the painkillers along with librela gave us the extra years with him x
