As an AuDHD gal, I thought stimulant meds were working great for me… I was able to do what needed to be done and just generally “keep up”…. Until my nervous system started screaming at me. After 2 years of dry mouth, migraines and declining energy levels, I went off the meds and crashed in a heap. That’s when I realised the meds were actually masking autistic burnout. Since stopping them 6 months ago, I’m still in burnout but very gradually recovering. I think it’s going to be a long road.

Medication saved me from irreversible burnout and allowed my ASD to emerge into the light 😁 The background music feels unnecessary and is distracting.

How do you find a healthcare provider who you can feel safe with & unmask with? My GP told me I can’t have adhd because I did well in school (minus the frequent absences & eventual school refusal). I know he’s wrong but I feel I have too much else going on to take the time to advocate for myself.
