@fly.goldseal: Lift is a force created by multiple factors. We can explain it using the research from two 18th century dudes: Bernoulli and Newton. 🛫 Bernoulli's Principle states that when the speed of a moving fluid is increased, its pressure decreases. Basically, the density of a fluid gets stretched out as it accelerates. This results in fewer molecules in a given volume. As the density of a fluid decreases, so does its pressure. The air pressure above the wing is lower than the air pressure below the wing. This is because of the different airflows caused by the wing's camber. Fluids naturally move from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. So once a wing generates a strong enough difference in pressure, it moves upward toward the low pressure. Isaac Newton identified a series of laws that govern the motion of objects. His third law of motion states that forces between two objects exist in equal magnitude and in opposite directions. We describe this more commonly by saying, “Every action has an equal and opposite reaction”. Airflow under the wing strikes the lower surface and is deflected downward. In the process, the deflected air molecules impart an upward force on the wing.
