As someone whose name is Duncan irl, I take pride in the fact that GRRM couldn't find a way to stick a random stray vowel or Y in our name 🤣 It was medieval enough on its own 🫡

It also just fits perfectly that one of the most famous knights of his day and truest example of knighthood was basically just a squire clumsily talking his way into it and promptly being incredibly self conscious about it so he takes the substance of knighthood significantly more seriously than people who saw it as a standard rite of passage on the way to adult hood.
