I think most people just don't understand the value of dry wood. Especially when it comes to starting a fire. Dry pine can be lit by basically sneezing on it.

This is fast-growing pine. This means you get a lot of air in the pores and it burns well, but the calorific value is low. If you had better quality timber, you would have problems starting a fire.
