I’m a pretty staunch atheist, but hearing the call to prayer and visiting the Blue Mosque in Istanbul was the only time anything religious made me feel at peace and moved in any way.

When I went to Egypt and heard the call to prayer for the first time, I literally STOPPED walking because of how beautiful it was. It made my eyes well up 🥹 and I couldn’t help but close my eyes and just listen.

I live in Bahrain, im a Christian and I have heard the call to prayer my whole life and hearing people mock it is so sad and it’s so unacceptable like even if you don’t believe in the religion atleast respect it

If your travelling somewhere, you are a guests in other peoples country, their home. Like you would anywhere you are a guest, you should be respectful and follow the rules and culture of their home. It’s not hard to google before you go someplace to have the most basic respect for the people who love where you are travelling. It’s your vacation but it’s their home.
