As a manga fan, I like that "cartoon covers" are an option for novel authors. That said, I don't like that they're often the same art style; it feels boring and unoriginal.

I don’t think they’re appropriate on a novel with adult content- I’ve never been on the side of “cartoons/animation are inherently for kids” but the simplistic, colorful style suggests it’s for preteens and teens and I’ve heard stories of parents thinking they’re age appropriate because of that. I support always checking media but that media also needs to brand itself in a way that is true to the content. Especially when the romance section at a lot of places is close to the kids/teen sections.
