Despite that, they won’t ban Discord or even Roblox where known predators lurk. Its a semi good idea but should be placed on the parents to discuss and monitor with their child instead of the gov trying to shoehorn Digital ID checks for everyone afterwards.

You don't ban bikes just because some kids hurt themselves while using them. You teach kids how to ride those bikes properly and safely. Same applies here. As someone who works in education, I can assure you this won't work. Teens are crafty, they will find a way around it. It's just going to push social media usage underground, where it will be harder to regulate and make safe. Instead of banning it outright, we should be adding cyber safety and security into our curriculum, the same way we teach other safe practices.

Parents need to parent, if they don't want theid kids online then they need to do their jobs AS PARENTS and look after their kids. The government shouldn't be stepping in to control access to the internet.
