this explains a lot actually. We had a German exchange student and we made asparagus and she said they had it in Germany but they peeled it. I have wondered about that conversation for years. Now it makes sense.

As a German I was highly shocked that there was only green asparagus in the US. I didn’t even know that was a thing 🤣

meanwhile most houses have a special asparagus pan, so you can cook them standing up. Here in The Netherlands we do also take them really serious, a bit less then the Germands but still serious!
