Tbh I think Kate’s problem is she never got closure with her mom. She never told her how she truly felt so now she’s taking it out on Meredith…. I feel like no matter what Meredith does Kate will find every way to have a problem with it.

So Kate grew up feeling like she was never good enough. Her mother, probably not on purpose, pitted Kate against her sister even though Kate tried. She grew up to feel resentful and then emulated her own mother looking for approval that never came.

I can’t really take Meredith’s side quite yet cause she did move the dress w/o asking and wanting to move the flowers at the funeral wasn’t the best either. It’s not a big deal but its also minor things that can be rude to someone else.

So I am gathering that the way Kate grew up she was constantly pushed aside for her sister. She never felt seen or heard. So as an adult she has to control everything so that it keeps the attention on her. Picking who her kids date/marry etc. I want to feel bad for her but at some point you have to realize you are making others miserable.

I think Meredith was graced with a much easier and more loving relationship with her parents growing up, not saddling her with emotional baggage and unresolved issues. Looks like she had it way easier.

So my therapist recommended I read “Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents.” I recommend it for Ferris and Jenny…and Kate…and Meredith. Definitely a history of trauma!
