@ajnabi._6x: I'm actually new to this, I never read about him before. I have a lot to say about him, so I'm turning this into a series. For now, I'm just breaking down his ideas in simple terms or in a way I've understood him so everyone can follow along. Once I'm done with that, I'll compare him with Al-Ghazali, and after that I'll give my own views on Ibn Rushd. That part will probably be the most interesting for me. If you think I've misunderstood something about him you're free to correct me in the comments. It's been a challenge to gather material on Muslim philosophers. Most ppl rely on physical books, but I don't have access to those and my city barely has a functioning library. So I've had to collect information about him and his positions from online sources and various websites instead. also follow me on insta: ajnabi._.6x #ibnrushd #averroes #philosophy #fyp
the Father of Rationalism is Rene Descartes, not Ibn Rushd

Can't be metaphorical since they hadn't discovered any physical laws on the universe identical to our modern understanding. Ibn Rushd's understanding is entirely mysticism and philosophy mixed together.

in the early mudlim tradition Aristotle is known as the first teacher
with Ibn Rushd known as the second teacher
the early muslims understood the importance of learning the foundational Trivium Logic Rhetoric and Grammar
this was foundational to elite education and on this you can build to learn anything else
Ibn Khaldun is a good example of this

And all of these way before Hegel?!
Okay, I'm totally impressed now.
I mean, Hegel did formalize all of these into structural frameworks as a model of dialectics not to mention his Absolute Spirit of Being, but still... mind-blowing.

Ibn Rushd did not believe in the ‘intellects’ as falasifa like Al Kindi did, he criticized Ibn Sina’s model of emanation & had an indep view
