They will either 1: set up an interview on the spot ot 2: tell you not to contact them (cuz they ain't really hiring) or 3: you will get an over worked employee who will say they will "pass it on to the manager" and then never hear from them again

I’ve done this, mostly they just tell me it’s all done online and they have no clue. Recently had someone inform me that the place I applied to wouldn’t take the job listing down until a certain # of applicants have applied.

ive called and its either "so we did receive your application and we're still going through them but expect a call in the next week" and never get a call, OR the manager isn't there but an employee will write down my number and give them a message, and then never get a call. source: applying since May and didn't hear anything from anybody until October

My parents constantly told me I had to call after applying to a job to show I’m invested in getting the job, well I did that and a retail store manager yelled at me for calling about the application so I don’t know what to do anymore

This used to be a great way to do things before companies made everything online, nowadays doing this will get you rejected faster than normal. At my job the managers will do anything to get out of those calls and emails

When I applied to my current job I got an instant resume rejection through their ATS saying I wasn’t qualified. If anything I was OVER qualified. So I called them and entered a help ticket that their system had to be broken…well my hubris lead to an offer so…

Don’t call!! 😭 I used to be an office manager and would be bombarded with people calling to ask if anyone looked at their application yet, but it always annoyed me because we would only contact people if we were hiring and it created an extra task for me to take a message and annoy the hiring heads. It always made my life hell
