I could've never imagined how extensive the healing process is. I'm 26, have had 2 this year, fixed with silicone oil vitrectomies, all while pregnant. im currently waiting on my baby to be born so I can plan for oil removal in one eye and cataract removal in both. I had to have the oil removed from one of my eyes sooner than they wanted because it emulsified.

Hi Doctor, thank u for the informative channel. My hubby has 3 retinal detachment surgeries done last year July-Sept. The first 2 was gas but couldn’t attach. The first time he didn’t face down long enough. The second time due to the scar, it pulled the retina wall away. The 3rd was silicon oil and buckle. Jan this year 2026, he went for check up and vision was blurry due to cataract hence went for cataract surgery. As a result of cataract, the retina detached, hence he went for 4th retina surgery with a thicker permanent oil. Now his left eye still blurry with a centre part rectangle block due to the previous lasering of the tear in retina. He is very depressed cos he is only 45 and couldn’t really see in his left eye. Can I ask if there could be any have chance he could regain more vision in his left eye? Will the rectangle blockage in left eye recover or become smaller in time to come? Is there anything u can advise so that he might be able to improve his vision? He smoke at least 1 pack of cigarettes to cope with his condition and depression , does smoking cause the retina to detach? Will quitting help or prevent or slow down possibly of detachment? Will diet and supplements help prevent and strengthen retina wall? Is there any way to reduce the scars from the lasering of the retina tear so that the current rectangle blocks can be reduced and vision improve? Thank u very much. 🙏

How to protect the retina? Myopia prevention?? I have -1.25 w/ -0.75 cyl, wearing sunglasses? Not staring at sun/eclipse, etc?

when you get something in your eye or scratch it or rinse it with water, does that have any effect on the retina or not since it's inside the wallpaper
