@tomshreds: Avenged Sevenfold have a knack of creating those "#$%^ YEAH!" moments, with riffs, solos & grooves that hijack the primal brain. This was actually the first Avenged Sevenfold song I ever heard. A young student named Will brought it to me to learn, and while we focused on the (surprisingly) tricky introduction fingerpicking, it took a while to reach this last half threshold where Portnoy steps it up into this energetic double-time feel. I thought the harmonised arpeggios were powerful, but then Gates goes to another level, melting our faces with those incisive runs, tremolo picking and chaotic sweeps. Then when you think it's all over, it's time to chug on that huge E chord. Simple, but perfect.
