If they are making more than $25-30 an hour in tips, then we are tipping too much. We need to go back to 10%. No way a waitress should be making $50 an hr.

What killed tipping is everybody thinking they deserved a tip, fast food, coffee, etc should not expect a tip. 💯 agree for sit down full service- tipping is needed.

Tipping should be flat. Walking a $50 plate and a $20 plate from the kitchen to table is the same amount of effort.

I agree they make plenty of money. Not sure why tips went from 15 to 20 percent. Makes ZERO sense. Percentage tipping needs to go.

Any good server would choose to work for tips because they make way more money that way. If you don’t want to tip, don’t go to that type of restaurant. You know walking through the door how it works, so if you aren’t onboard, don’t eat there.

I think the bigger problem is that in the 90s, typical tip was 10%... now we're being told if you can't tip 30% stay home?? Tips should be based on performance.

If they make $25 to $30 dollars and hour serving food or making drinks we are tipping way to much now. So now we should lower our tips cause us labor workers don’t make that much at our jobs

Prices have already gone up, so the 20% tip is out of control. 20% was fair when prices were normal. But not anymore.

I remember visiting in Japan, I got exceptional service at all the restaurants and they refused to take tips. I would love to have this in America, and I was a waiter for 5 years.

This attitude right here is why I’d rather not go to restaurants. Half the time the food/ service is mediocre. Tips should be flat based if any. If restaurants want me to pay their employees payroll, then I’m going to require a 1099 tax form!!
