@dollartreedinners: Day 4 of my 12 Days of Dollar Tree Christmas Desserts 🎄✨ Today we’re making Old-Fashioned Potato Candy, a vintage holiday treat made with just a few simple ingredients. It’s sweet, nostalgic, no-bake, and comes together surprisingly well using Dollar Tree instant mashed potatoes! INGREDIENTS: • 1/2 Cup Instant mashed potatoes (prepared and cooled) • 4-5 Cups Powdered sugar • Peanut butter (or any nut/seed butter) INSTRUCTIONS: Mix the cooled mashed potatoes with powdered sugar a cup or two at a time until it forms a thick, dough-like consistency. (it will be runny at first but keep adding powdered sugar until it gets thick enough to knead by hand) Dust your surface with powdered sugar and roll the mixture into a rectangle. Spread a generous layer of peanut butter over the top, then gently roll it up into a tight log. Wrap and chill until firm, then slice into sweet little pinwheels. Simple, nostalgic, and surprisingly delicious for how few ingredients it uses 🎁🍬✨ #potatocandy #NoBakeDesserts #ChristmasTreats #dollartreedesserts #12DaysOfDollarTreeDesserts

In New England we do a potato candy except it’s potatoes, coconut, and confectioners sugar and vanilla extract formed into little rectangles and coated in chocolate

I REMEMBER MY GRANDMA MAKING THESE 😭 But I'm ALLERGIC to peanut butter, so she would put cinnamon in the middle, and it was SO GOOD like a cinnamon roll!!! 😭 Thank you for making this bc I guess I know what I'm making tonight, I never got the chance to know her recipe bc she passed away when I was 17 (diagnosed with Brain cancer when I was 16 and started losing some of her memories before that). So I never got the chance to learn from her. Just recently my husband managed to figure out her mashed potato recipe (he never knew her) and the moment I tasted them (bc it was my first time seeing him making mashed potatoes from scratch) I legit cried. It was a huge core memory which was those potatoes and that candy!

You can also use Nutella or Mashmellow fluff in place of peanut butter

my dad said just a few nights ago that instant potatoes don't work for this; how weird that you immediately proved him wrong

I'm gonna get these and make it with my toddler students. Sensory (mash potatoes), peanut butter (no one is allergic), not a choking hazard, and no bakkng? Yes please!

I grew up eating this! I never got the privilege of learning Grandma's recipe but was intimidated by online recipes. This looks so easy!

I grew up on potato candy. Did the instant potatoes affect the flavor much? I'd be afraid they'd be too salty. I loved the looks on my classmate's faces when I brought them to school for class parties

Potato candy❣❣❣. My grandma used to make potato candy for us. She would spread homemade jam on top of the peanut butter, then dip each cut candy into more powered sugar. I didn’t know it was made from potatoes until I was older and asked for the recipe.
