I've owned this product, and checked it against a tape measure, and out if 10 measurements, it was 1/32nds off of one measurement! So it's definitely not junk at all!

Everything is good until you mix up the settings to measure from the front of the device or back of it. You learn it in a hard way

Measure the same thing 3 times in a row. Different measurement every time. Not reliable. Won’t be throwing away my tape anytime soon. Now take that measurement and go measure the piece of lumber to the size you want to cut…..right, the laser has to hit something to give you a measurement.
