@saabthetrooper: I disagree with the pre salting, it’s a waste of salt/money and might only stop less than half an inch of accumulation. Also, as someone who does this as a side job, when your hitting multiple houses at once, it’s hard to just push snow - you generally have a lift it at some point, and you can really only even just push snow if it’s under 2-3 inches

my grandpa loved chicken grit instead of salt. you have to use alot more but the pay off is great especially since most of his yard was garden he wanted to keep the salt away from it.

I would not salt before it snows. it'll make your be layer of snow wet and sloppy. it'll make the snow that more heavy when you go and clear it.
