ยุงแมลงมาวนเวียน? แผ่นหอมช่วยไล่แมลงได้ยาวนาน
Jacob Wrestling with the Angel (1865) By Alexandre-Louis Leloir 📍 Musée d’Art Roger-Quilliot, Clermont-Ferrand, France This is not a normal fight. Jacob is not fighting to win. He is fighting because he cannot become who he is meant to be without being wounded first. Two figures are locked together in the wilderness, but only Jacob looks desperate. He grips the angel with all the force in his body, as if letting go would mean losing more than a fight. The angel feels different. His wings rise behind him, pale and calm, and he does not look like an enemy trying to destroy Jacob. He looks like a force Jacob cannot understand, cannot defeat, and still refuses to release. In the Book of Genesis, this happens at night, before Jacob meets his brother Esau, the brother he wronged years earlier. Everything from his past is waiting for him in the morning. So the fight becomes more than a fight. Jacob is wrestling fear, guilt, and the old version of himself. By morning, Jacob receives the blessing and is given a new name: Israel, the one who struggles with God. But the blessing leaves a mark. His hip is wounded, and he walks away limping. Jacob does not leave untouched. He leaves with a blessing, a wound, and a new name. Would you still ask for the blessing if you knew it would leave you limping? 👉 Follow @bymuseum for vivid stories and hidden meanings in classical art.
