@drtanyaaltmann: If you ever catch your baby putting something in their mouth that could cause choking, what you do next matters. If you can see the object, you can carefully remove it. 🚫 If you can’t see it, never do a blind finger sweep — that can push it deeper. 😮💨 If your baby is coughing, gagging, or making sounds that means air is still moving. 🚨 If your baby can’t cry, cough, or breathe: Call 911, then start infant choking first aid: ➡️ 5 firm back blows between the shoulder blades ➡️ Flip, then 5 chest thrusts Repeat until the object comes out or help arrives. Even if they seem fine afterward, always have them checked by a medical professional. Make sure to keep small objects, coins, and food pieces out of reach. And make sure you, and anyone who cares for your baby, take an infant CPR & choking class. Preparation saves lives. 💛

Cassey Lea Morse :
My son is now one, but the first time he choked on something I swiped it out of his throat, cleared his airway and stepped into the other room to sob then hugged him again!
