is there a FULL-FOOL / PULL-POOL merger, cuz I think I have it? my partner always corrects me when I pronounce full like fool and pull like pool. I think it could be cuz my accent was influenced by my Spanish speaking parents. I don't have a strong latino accent though. only with those words.

I have a question !! Watched materialists (horrible) today and dakota johnson in that movie REEEALLY sounds like sydney sweeney which was kind of pissing me off…why did they sound like each other? They both have a whispery talking thing going but also the way they were saying words…idk but might be fun..

In grade school we were tested, for taking free music lessons, on our ability to distinguish notes. I did not pass. Listening to people speak, and being unable to hear mergers, tells me I still would not pass.😆

This is so cool to hear broken out - my moms from Yonkers and dad grew up on long island but moved to New Jersey when he was in high school. And then I grew up outside of Boston haha. The mergers are so cool to hear about. Harry and Hairy is a fun one my mom and I differ on but love learning about the linguistic differences!

what about L and W? people in my neighborhood in texas (specifically in my neighborhood, i don’t notice this all the time) pronounce L as W sometimes and it can be subtle like caw-me (call me) or obvious enough for others to point out…. cant think of an example
