@historychallengecambodia: FORMAL COMPLAINT TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY REGARDING THE DESTRUCTION OF CAMBODIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE I, Kim, a Khmer citizen of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the founder of History Challenge Cambodia, submit this formal complaint to the international community, UNESCO, ASEAN, and all global cultural and heritage protection organizations. I wish to express my deepest concern and condemnation regarding the intentional destruction of Ta Krabey Temple by the Thai military. Ta Krabey Temple is not merely an ancient structure; it is a sacred historical and cultural monument of Cambodia, representing the identity, history, and spiritual heritage of the Khmer people, as well as part of the shared heritage of humanity. This act constitutes a direct attack on cultural heritage, in clear violation of international law, including conventions protecting cultural property during armed conflict. The destruction of Ta Krabey Temple reflects a serious disregard for culture, morality, and the rule of law. Furthermore, this incident is not isolated. On 8 December 2025, Preah Vihear Temple—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—was also struck. As a result, conservation facilities under the Cambodia–India restoration partnership were completely destroyed, and multiple temple structures suffered damage during continued cross-border military actions. These actions directly undermine international cooperation for heritage preservation. Despite repeated letters of concern, diplomatic appeals, and international warnings, these actions have continued. This demonstrates a pattern of behavior that ignores peaceful diplomatic processes and threatens irreplaceable cultural sites. I respectfully call upon: 1/ UNESCO 2/ ASEAN 3/ International cultural and legal institutions. 4/ The global community to conduct independent investigations, demand accountability, and take meaningful measures to ensure the protection of Cambodia’s cultural heritage. Cultural destruction must not go unaddressed, as it affects not only one nation but the historical legacy of all humanity. This complaint is submitted in good faith, with the sole intention of protecting peace, cultural heritage, and international law.
