It’s called a Milligan Gap. John Milligan from Adelaide realised the expansion with the crazy heat in Australia kept making the nets warp and drag. So they created the gap. Look it up.

It’s because clay courts need sweeping and watering so you can pass the sweeper under the net.

It’s so you can hit the ball under the net straight towards them indstead of hitting it to them hope this helps

Not every net. Most places are pretty bang on with proper nets. I think those kind are because the same manufacturer makes volleyball nets, so these are probably cheaper to buy than actual tennis nets.
