And I love that it is not speed-based, you can play it for as much or little time as you want, and different groups can work on different review so each group can practice what they need to. Here’s how to play: All you need is index cards, markers, and whatever math review you will have students working on. Students will be working in small groups for this game so you will need to make one mystery card for each group. Write them all in different colors, you’ll see why in a bit. Each group will also need two point value cards. Every group will start with two cards that add up to 1000. Be sure to vary the point values that you put on the cards. Now make your Mystery Swap key. Each mystery card is worth a secret number of points that only you know. Now you’re ready to play! Give each small group one mystery card and two point value cards that add up to 1000. Students will work in small groups on their math review. When they are done with a set number of problems and you mark them correct, one person from the group will take one of their group’s cards and swap it out with a card from another group. They can swap for a higher point value card or swap it for a mystery card if they’re feeling lucky! Groups should only ever have 3 cards at a time. Then they go back to their group and work on the next set of problems. Students continue working on problems and swapping out cards until you call time. At the end, you announce how much each mystery card is worth.
