Kevin Hernandez :
As a combat veteran, I can say there’s a huge amount of help out there for us. Honestly, more than most people even realize. If you’re dealing with service-connected disabilities, the support is even bigger VA healthcare, disability comp, housing programs, the GI Bill, all of it. A lot of vets don’t ask for help, not because it doesn’t exist, but because of pride, stubbornness, or they just feel like they’re ‘fine’ as they are. And yeah, there are definitely folks who fall through the cracks, but it’s not because there’s nothing available. It’s usually because the system is overwhelming or they don’t want to step forward for it. There is also Vets that take advantage of the system, I know many that have made up disabilities just to get paid every month when there is real vets that are in pain and don’t get approved for benefits.
