Yeah, I don’t understand why they didn’t seize the properties and resell them to the locals

I actually have a friend who comes from there and he says a different story the locals took part in the destroying of these occupied buildings on their lands, because most of them were owned by a certain country that's really big into stealing other people's land

I grew up in Singapore and Thailand, and my family has friends who’ve built resorts all over the region — so I’ve seen this play out more than once. And honestly, I’m about 90% sure the same story happened here.
At the end of the day, it always comes down to money. A group of investors buys in, someone inside the local government quietly smooths the approvals — not because it’s good for the community, but because there’s something in it for them. The land gets carved up, sold off, and suddenly the villas, restaurants, and clubs start popping up. Then a few years later, that government insider disappears into a new job… and the whole project collapses.
Once you’ve seen how these things unfold behind the scenes, it’s pretty obvious what really went down.

they out of job , it would be tragic if their wages weren't like 200 usd a month while the business were making thousands of dollars in profit

wouldn't the better option to be that the government just senses the buildings and then just continue as normal

You nearly got it right so some of the places there were also owned locally one place ombrak I used to go to was one of the first places that was built there in the 1970s was literally a shak and they grew it into a luxury café. They had to watch their home and something that they had nurtured for 30 years knocked down by the g…. The places there were also locally owned but bought a lot of attention because when the forgeries started to build illegally it brought attention
