The presence is your leverage thing is a half truth. It is cheesy, but it does help me prove (to my sales manager) that my customer is serious and not just one of the people who send me offers on Facebook marketplace you know what I mean.

Why can’t cars just have a set price. When I buy groceries I don’t have to negotiate. Just set the damn price.

I cant speak for anywhere else but in my specific province in manitoba they have to be certified by the government to be a salesman and if they get complaints against doing things against code of ethics they get there license pulled and cant sell any more cars

I agree with you but I have to tell you that when people do come in, they are way more likely to bump and close on a deal. It isn’t the same answer you get on the phone.

Your presence is your leverage should be used when you were close to a Deal not a far distance if a customer is 20 $30 away absolutely use that line.

I agree, my store is a one priced store. It works very easy for my sales reps and customers. No time wasted on either side and people love it. We sell more cars being a one priced store than we did when we negotiated. Everyone gets the same deal and our internet price is strong. People call from different states for a reason…price. So consumers enjoy the simple the and easy process

I’m usually too honest and I blame it on the appreciating a customers time, but the truth is, I value my time more. It’s a win for the customer, to work with someone that is open, honest, transparent and efficient.

As a former car salesman that operated this way it’s just the right way to do it. Unfortunately, it’s just not how the industry works because of old management. managers were always still pushing that old school method of do whatever you have to to get them in the dealership and never let them leave.

my problem is not the sales department its the finance department. trying to add bogus B.S. to the deal. Gap insurance is get, but the extras warrenties that have loopholes are what I don't want.

I don't even know what lies people are even telling. How can you lie when there is a sticker on every window with a full breakdown, and every single person has a device in their hand that gives them the full price AND all the specs on the product? it drives me crazy that people think dealers are lying because it's just logistically impossible. Everybody is just such a spiritual boomer, remembering a time that most of them weren't alive for.

I went to look at a car said it’s going to be cleaned detailed and out of elements and stuff and then found the inside absolutely dirty disgusting needless to say I walked away the had 3 days plus 2.5 hour trip to have it cleaned
