the wild thing is them acting like they cant *also* ask for accommodations. "someone has it worse" ok then they can also get preboard??? you having yours doesn't suddenly take away others???? hello??? multiple people can ask for preboard.

unfortunately, people do not understand jack nor shit about disabilities or accommodations. no matter how much they think they do. you really don't know much unless you're directly involved with it! i hardly knew crap myself previously. but ableism also runs rampant in our society

Airports are already hell for us diabetics, don't listen to them. They do not understand what its like to have this kind of disability.

Doubling down on this is crazy 😂. That’s what the space under the seat in front of you is for lol

Also, I don’t see why people want to go on the plane first? You have to sit and wait for everyone else to board and propably get up for people to get in their seats and stuff

People don’t understand what having a disability means they think bc you aren’t in a wheelchair or on oxygen you aren’t disabled when diabetes 100% is a disability that requires extra care and attention.

I’m also type 1 diabetic and I find that if I don’t pre board I get flustered and a lil overwhelmed which makes my BG’s go up. Sometimes my hand luggage is not close to be due to overhead bins being filled up prior & now I’m stressed with high sugars 🥲 - no matter what they’ll always be ignorant people who just simply don’t care nor take the time to care. You pre board your flight & let the haters stay mad x

I want my medical bag stowed as close to my seat as possible and I will board early to ensure that happens.

I'm ground staff at the airport with T1D and I've had plenty of people with diabetes ask me for pre boarding. I'll gladly let them because I understand the struggle.

I am not disabled myself, tho i would rather the people that need to pre board, i wouldn’t want people to risk their safety and health for my convenience, i can very much wait, my reserved seat wont run away because i have to wait a few more minutes

I also have T1D and if they ask you to check your carry on you can just tell that it would be dangerous for you to loose the access to your medication. I've done it dozens of times, never had any problems.

I don’t get why people are so upset I live with multiple chronic illnesses and with that comes A LOT of supplies, one of them being my blood sugar monitor (I don’t have any form of diabetes, but I do have insulin resistance) and that comes with A LOT of parts so I can only imagine what a type one diabetic has to deal with with even more things added onto it.

I was once asked to check my carry on but once I told them it contained all my medical supplies they immediately dropped it and continued to the next. Thankful I haven’t had a bad experience but knowing it has happened to others makes me so frustrated!

I didn't think it was odd at all. Diabetes is hard! Just because someone else's is better controlled or they just make themselves suffer through doesn't mean you have to

checking your insulin can destroy it ≤0⁰C = inert insulin not even talking about the rest of your supply's

🤔 23 years of being T1D - never once have I even thought of doing this. Oh, and my meds come with me in my handbag, a big one.

idk, personally I don't know much about diabetes but if I see a video of someone asking for something like this and it's accepted with no pushback by the people working there, I'm gonna assume it's all good, not go crazy in the comments complaining about it 🤷🏻♀️

genuine question from someone who'd hate being on the plane longer than I have to, can't you instead of pre-boarding explain your situation and even if you board later not be one of the people to have to check your bag?

As a pots girl I always ask to do the premedical boarding. I need my medical bag with me due to unforeseen medical issues. I also get chronic migraines and need my medical devices for that. I’ve never had an airline stop me but I’ve had lots of glares from people who see me and don’t see an invisible disability.
