mechanic's daughter here! it is false, however it is illegal at gas stations because of spilling and static electricity (in the winter) causing fires, and fires at a gas station are uuhhh BAD 😂

It’s a fire hazard. I used to live in northern bc and some people would leave their car running while pumping gas because it was so cold. But really you should turn it off. It’s not exactly safe to keep it running.

As someone who works at a gas station. First it’s a fire hazard and secondly there’s a higher chance of you driving off with the hose still in gas tank, especially if you sit in the car while it fills up. Turn car off, pump your gas and please don’t leave car unattended while pumping. Like going inside to get whatever. We are human and we forget things an iv seen accident happen to many times.
