God already knows what choices we will make, and He works through them, but His knowing does not cause the choice. St Thomas Aquinas said God moves voluntary causes “according to their own nature” causing freedom itself- no violence to liberty.

Amen. If God does something, it’s good holy and righteous no matter what we think about it. You’re spot on when you say he’s not obligated to save anyone. The fact that he chooses some is pure mercy.

I’m working through all this too currently! I grew up church of Christ, fell away from church and came back in the last few years. I finally found a great reformed church and feel like it’s answered so many of the questions I wrestled with growing up instead of making me feel bad for asking them. I don’t consider myself a 5 point Calvinist necessarily but I had come to a lot of “Calvinist” conclusions just from my own Bible study before I even knew what Calvinism was lol
