Yeah, he missed the point. It’s not about compromise, it’s about highlighting what we agree on. The problem with him is that he’s one of those who will not work with anyone he disagrees on about anything at all.

ive been around liberal radicals and conservative radicals... they sound the same... more of us in the middle need to keep talking out and to each other... its the only way to show the radicals that we won't be swayed to either side. we want truth, justice, safety, fairness, and reason.

the middle ground is possible if we can get rid of the political sports team narrative being more important than anything else reason why I follow your account

i understand where you’re coming from but for some of us the moral disparities that you’re referring to as “distractions” are literally threatening our lives. it’s pretty hard to compromise with someone who doesn’t thing your life has any value

We are not divided by the problems we face, but by an unwillingness to talk about how to solve them. A rigid “my way or the highway” ideology has corrupted our democracy and poisoned our society. Without real conversations and sincere efforts to negotiate in good faith, compromise is impossible.

You know it’s interesting. I have a 16-year-old son and we were discussing freedom, individual rights. And I was talking about right across the board gun rights right to free speech and he stopped me and he said you know what you don’t have to go there to understand that I’m willing to give up some right so an airplane doesn’t blow up in the sky that doesn’t mean I’m giving those rights up in the grocery store. It’s just about the airplane. Not bad for a 16-year-old. We agree as a nation on eight out of 10 things and we’re doing five out of those eight things. It’s a mess. I agree with you. It’s time to start to fix things based on agreement instead of the sliver of disagreement that makes up our live lives.

Biggest obstacle is going to be, finding an independent politician that will campaign on this. Can’t get a democrat or a republican. The other side will never vote for them

Mainly because both parties vote for the money. We need to get money out of politics. Representatives, Senators and Presidents should work for the people, not who can enrich them.

The literal first step in negotiating is to first identify all the items that you agree on and how to bring them about.

Who’s going to acknowledge Trump trying to limit corporations from buying houses? It seems the left doesn’t acknowledge anything positive that he tries to do.

Isaac Saul's newsletter, Tangle, is the place to go to work on compromise. A lot of good comes from compromise, but this is more about what we agree on already without having to compromise. I think if we can get some of the core issues resolved, we might find it easier to compromise as we go forward. I think Tangle would benefit a lot of people behind common ground, but they are different platforms. It's a free newsletter.

It obviously possible for all parties to find common ground. The problem is how do you stop the corruption in government that overshadows fairness to taxpayers.

We have to get media to help support this. They highlight fringe ideology because it gets views and clicks. They sometimes want to focus on the one instead of the one hundred.

I think "Common Ground" would be a great party name. I really like your ideas. I think IL is desperate for a candidate with the 28 common ground ideas. we're not good at selecting a candidate
