It is narrated in one of the sermons of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) in Nahj al-Balaghah: «“Indeed, Allah, the Glorified and Exalted, has ordained within the wealth of the rich the sustenance of the poor. No poor person goes hungry except because of what a wealthy person has been allowed to enjoy, and Allah, the Most High, will hold them accountable for that.”» Allah has allocated a fixed share of the wealth of the rich for the poor among the Muslims. Cause of hunger: The hunger of those in need results from the wealthy taking more than their rightful share or withholding the rights due to others. Responsibility: On the Day of Judgement, Allah will call the wealthy to account for any neglect of their duty towards the poor and the vulnerable.
