As a once self employed machinist. I used to tell people, I ran my machines from 9-5 but I ran my business from 5-9. Because I was just as busy with invoicing, preparing payroll and taxes, prepping parts for shipping. Making online tooling and material orders.. oh the list goes on.. yeah. Find the WHY. But in metal fabrication and manufacturing. Making your own hours is a punishment not a lifestyle. At least in startup.

That’s true. I work my own hours being a rancher, it’s easier on days I have to go to town, no clocking in or out, but that being said if it’s not done today it’ll be waiting for you tomorrow no matter what day of the week is because I work 7 days a week most of the time. A day behind means double time the next day
