replace the "bad" chain and the slack will still be there, it's normal for this design, I've put brand new gm chains on and have had this amount of slack. nothing wrong at all

timing chain for the most part are cheap honestly the problem is if you can't change it your self and it needs to go to a shop it's 2 grand starting buddy just had a timing chain done in his 05 Chevy Cobalt and the shop charged him 3200 and the dealer ship wanted 4000

a little slack is normal in an LS timing chain. but not that much. shouldn't be popping or skipping or anything like that. also I love it when the aftermarket pickup tubes come with 2 bolts and bolt holes.
