I remember Air new Zealand had a similar fly route using DC-10's and its advanced nav ILS system but it stopped after one crashed in mount Erebus because of horrendous route planning, contradictory instructions from both the airline the plan and the ATC(one of them being the minimum altitude for terrain clearance) and complete disregard for pilot's concerns and ILS drifts. Sadly the story didn't end there because of airline and gov cover-ups and troubles in the investigation a lot of the preliminary and final reports either don't make sense or contradict each other.
